Project Overview
This project, commissioned by Stencraft Pty Ltd, a joint venture company of the Girdis Group and F.A. Pidgeon & Sons Pty Ltd, marks a significant phase in the growth of Dockside, Brisbane’s premier waterfront residential precinct, located on the river at Kangaroo Point.
The initial consultancy was the production of a revised urban design for the Dockside Precinct involving the conversion of commercial building approvals to residential use. This provided a planning basis for the Brisbane City Council to amend its Local Area Plan for Kangaroo Point.
Stage 2 development, Amity Apartments, involved the construction of 42, two bedroom apartments above established retail uses on the Town Square at Dockside. The low-rise structure of six levels, above existing development, provides comfortable and attractive apartments with both River and City views. The dockside Hotel operation allowed the owners to lease the units as part of the Hotel accommodation.
Stage 3 development, Stradbroke Tower and Villas, reflects a new era in quality of residential development in Brisbane. The tower is designed as a 24 level structure comprising of 90 two band three bedroom apartments, two two-storey penthouses and a topmost, grand penthouse. The Villas are contained in a low-rise Riverfront pavilion structure, providing 12 luxurious two and three bedroom apartments. The Tower and Villas are set in extensive landscaped gardens and are supported by a full range of amenities including a marina.
The design of the Tower and Villas, with minor modifications was acquired by the developers and used in the production of Stage 4, Macleay Tower.
